Quality of Life at Founders Crest Advanced Memory Care Residence

Founders Crest was built to look like an upscale home, not a senior care facility. We provide complete memory care for your loved one, with all the comforts of home. This includes home cooked meals, cleaning, laundry, medication administration, personal care, and incontinence care.

There are several gathering rooms that offer comfortable spaces for Residents to get together with family or other Residents, read, or just relax. We have 2 enclosed courtyards with a wandering path, so Residents have a secure place to enjoy the outdoors and get some fresh air and exercise. The kitchen has a space for Residents to sit and interact with the Dietary Manager during meal preparation times.

Founders Crest Design/Layout Considerations:

When designing Founders Crest, we wanted to find the best mix between the efficiencies of memory care facility models commonly seen today, and the qualities that make a family home feel comfortable and familiar.

  • Natural lighting, spatial configurations, ceiling heights, colors, sound, and pathways are all designed to create an environment that helps someone with Alzheimer’s feel normal and safe.
  • Founders Crest has both an open and an enclosed dining room, so our CareGivers can choose the right space for a Resident who needs more or less stimulation on a given day.
  • Food is served on brightly colored dishes. This not only makes it easier for Residents to see their food; it has also been proven to increase their appetites.
  • The kitchen has a work station and a variety of aprons, which can be used to provide a sensory connection for Residents who become anxious.
  • All ComfortCare Homes have a piano, and Founders Crest has two. Music has been proven to be a great redirection tool, as evidenced by the Roth Music & Memory program.

Life Enrichment Activities

Activities at Founders Crest are different from those offered in a nursing home setting, because group games like BINGO are usually not successful for residents with more advanced dementia, unless there is some sort of adaptation. We focus on providing ongoing mental and physical stimulation beyond television, at a level that meets each Resident’s reality and skills.
