ComfortCare Homes Celebrates Location Grand Opening

ComfortCare Homes, a mainstay in dementia care serving Wichita and the surrounding region for over 30 years, had a grand opening event at their newly renovated location on Morningside.

“All told, this project took less than a year to complete,” said Micala Gingrich-Gaylord, ComfortCare’s CEO. “In this market, you can build new or expand on what’s already working. We’re currently doing both.”

The new home at 441 S. Morningside will continue ComfortCare’s tradition of making residents feel at home by allowing them to live in a traditional, residential environment.

“Each new room has a private, en suite toilet and small bathroom; beautiful, covered porch and walking path,” said Gingrich-Gaylord. “This home is easily accessible from the highway so family can visit from anywhere in town.”

Each resident will have two caregivers, with a total of 10 residents in the home under full-time nursing care and supervision.

About ComfortCare Homes

At ComfortCare Homes, our legacy comes from family caregivers who sought a better model of care. Through the experiences of caring for their grandparents, the Stark family developed one of the first residential dementia care programs in the country, inspiring the creation of the HomePlus state accreditation and changing the landscape of professional Alzheimer’s and dementia care in the process.

Alzheimer’s disease affects nearly six million Americans, a population expected to nearly double by 2060. Initially manifesting as a memory disorder, Alzheimer’s is a degenerative form of dementia that can impair cognition as well as physical functioning. The amount and quality of care required by people afflicted by this terrible disease can be considerable, and strain even the most dedicated family caregivers.

Over the more than 25 years that ComfortCare Homes has been serving our community, we’ve consistently strived to go beyond the basics and provide innovative dementia care for our residents and their families. Throughout our tenure as the region’s premier dementia care provider, our work has been recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association, the State of Kansas and the Wichita Chamber of Commerce, among others.
